Site Targeting Sniper ~>Instruction Manual...

"Site Targeting Sniper" works in conjunction with the Google Adwords program. As such, you will need your own Google Adwords account in order to use the software. Also if Adwords is experiencing difficulties on their site (or doing general maintenance) the software will not function correctly during these times. Fortunately this only happens on very rare occasions.

Windows Vista Users ~> If you experience trouble running the application, right click on the desktop icon and select "run as administrator".

Project Manager

"Site Targeting Sniper" allows you to create an unlimited number of different "projects". These can be used to conduct different keyword based searches for websites in different niche markets. This way you can easily sort and save campaigns for future management and keep your different Adwords campaigns stored logically within the software itself...

To create a new profile, click on the "New" button (the "Open" button will open existing projects, and the "Delete" button will removed any existing projects from the software). When you click the "New" button you will be asked to give your project a name. This is simply for your reference. In this example we will be looking for websites related to "dog training" that have Site Targeting enabled. As such, we call this campaign "Dog Training"...

Selecting Your Project Type, Keyword Generator, & Searching

"Site Targeting Sniper" allows you to create 3 different *search* based project types:

"By Keyword From Search Engines:" This project type will allow you to search on the major search engines based on the keyword terms you input. This is the most powerful feature of the software. It will scour the internet for sites that the Adwords program itself wouldn't suggest for site targeting.

"By Keyword From Adwords:" This project type connects directly with the Adwords "keywords suggestion" feature. It's the same as using this feature within Adwords itself.

"By Category From Adwords:" This project type connects directly with the Adwords "category suggestion" feature based on drilling into broader categories to find websites. It's the same as using this feature within Adwords itself.

Select the project type you would like to run and click the ok button brings up the project editor window...

...here you need to enter your keyword term/s into the input box. You can use multiple keyword terms, one per line to broaden your search criteria for the campaign. Often the best results are found using many of the less popular, more niche specific keyword terms related to your industry (rather than a single broad term such as "dog training").

Below the input window you will also see a "Keyword Generator" button. This allows you to enter a keyword term and the software will suggest other related keyword terms you might also like to consider. This feature works directly with the Adwords external Keyword Suggestion tool so you might be asked to enter CAPTCHA information before you can pull the results into the software as shown below...

...you can also select the search engines you want to search on. You can select just one, both or all three of the major search engines. Currently the software works with Google, Yahoo and MSN.

Using the "Search Depth" drop down menu you can also determine how many results you wish to check. 30 will check the top 30 search results for each keyword term in each search engine, 100 will check the top 100, and so on... right up to 1,000 results per term (assuming that many results exist).

You then simply click the "Start Search" button to begin the search process...

The Search Process

The search process itself can take some time depending on a number of different things.

The more keyword terms you use, the more search engines you select, and the deeper you decide to search those engines, the longer things will take. It took approximately 2 minutes to run a search on the term "dog training" on all search engines, to a search depth of 100 results. The software will look like the following screen shot when searching...

Please be patient during the search process. The software is collecting a lot of information to make your decision making process easier. It does take time to gather this information from the various sources.

The Search Results

Once completed, the results window will open.

"Site Targeting Sniper" has completed its search, finding the most relevant websites that are participating in the Adwords program with "Site Targeting" enabled. It will show you the full domain, the individual page found within the search engine (and which search engine), and the position of that page within the results in the search engine...

...it also finds the Alexa Rating, and Google Page Rank of those websites.

In addition it will show you the "ad type" you can run on these individual sites (text, picture/image, video) and return an estimated range of the daily impressions of each site. If you used multiple keyword terms for the search, the associated keyword is found next to the respective result. You can sort the results by keyword or any other field here by clicking on the column heading.

Double clicking on any result will open that website in your browser for review.

You can also export the results to a text file, or copy the results to your clipboard (ready to be pasted into your Adwords account). You will however need to select the individual results you wish to work with by checking their respective checkbox before exporting.

Clicking the close button will then ask you if you wish to save the project, and if so it will be stored in the "Project Management" section. You can then come back and view the results & continue working on the project at a later time ...

Application Settings

The software has a number of basic settings you can manipulate....

Google Adwords Site Placement 8

...the "Adwords Account" section is where you need to enter your Adwords account login user name and password. Without this information, "Site Targeting Sniper" cannot automate the process of identifying those websites that have site targeting enabled.

The connection options are as follows.

Multi-Threads (between 1 and 5). This allows you to determine how many different "threads" the software will open. If only 1, then only 1 website is found at a time. If 5, then the software will check 5 at a time speeding the process up. However if you have a slow internet connection, you might want to set this to the lower end of the scale.

Timeout. This allows you to set the timeout threshold before the software ignores a result and moves on. For example if a website is down for 30 seconds and the software receives no response, it will ignore the result and move onto the next website it's going to check. You can change this as you see fit.

Retries. This section determines how many times to retry to gather information for a website assuming it has "timed out" (see above). You can change this as you see fit also.

Summary

That is the basic use of "Site Targeting Sniper" and this document will be added to in time as further support requests highlight areas that might need further explanation.

Wishing you all of the best...
